Zoho Flow Custom Function Execution Time Limits

TL;DR: Zoho Flow will cap the custom function run time at 30 seconds effective 15th of October 2024.

Custom Function Run Time in Zoho Flow

Last week, many of our customers received an automated notification from the Zoho Flow team. The notification informs about the following:

We’re writing to inform you that one or more custom functions in your Zoho Flow organization, [Customer Name inserted – DS], may be taking too long to execute.

Effective 15th of October 2024, custom function run times will be capped at 30 seconds, and functions exceeding this limit will be automatically stopped and the flow execution will fail. If your flow fails due to this limit, you can find more information in the flow’s history. In instances like this, you should modify the custom function and try rerunning your flow execution.

Please reach out to support@zohoflow.com if you need further help.

There’s no need to worry. This automatic notification does not necessarily mean that your custom functions in Zoho Flow are slow. It is essentially a notification that starting October 15th, 2024, custom function run times will be capped at 30 seconds. Some customers have received these notifications while their custom functions are well within the proposed 30-second runtime limit.

All the fellow Zoho admins know that sometimes it’s not the custom function to blame but the speed of the corresponding API, which might fluctuate.

So keep an eye on the execution times (this is always good advice, though!) and ask us if you encounter any problems after October 15th. Our customers with active SLAs are welcome to raise a ticket in our helpdesk so we can check their current custom function running times for greater peace of mind.

If you are reading this before 10/15/2024, you still have time to check your custom functions:
